Dead Mouse Shed – Cab Franc 2013 – Yarra Valley

The image of the dead mouse on the wine label comes from a painting created in 1886 called “Sympathy”, painted by a long since passed distant uncle. I imagine the name of the wine with or without the picture of a dead mouse makes it hard to sell in a restaurant. However this is Denton View Hill’s second tier wine. I really dislike the name and the label but that’s about where the dislikes end.

Ochota Barrels – The Green Room Grenache Syrah 2014

Well, the 2015 vintage has been released but it’s never too late to try a wine you can still find it in certain stores. This wine benefits from being left open for a good couple of hours. It is a blend of 88% Grenache and 12% Syrah, using 85% whole bunch from McLaren Vale.

My wife and I went over to Japan last year and travelled around Japan for a couple of weeks. Whilst in Kyoto, we were looking for places close by to go and explore. That’s when we heard there are free tours of the Yamazaki Distillery and we thought that it was imperative that we go check it out! You can either call the distillery directly or ask the concierge at your hotel to call up the day before and book the tour.
